There Was An Old Lady That Swallowed A Fly Mask

Here's a couple of old lady masks for acting out the nursery rhyme "There was an old lady that swallowed a fly." We've already got all the animal masks to go along with the rhyme - just needed an old lady...

So here she is!

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady who swallowed a spider,

That wriggled and wiggled and tiggled inside her;

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady who swallowed a bird;

How absurd to swallow a bird.

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady who swallowed a cat;

Fancy that to swallow a cat!

She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady that swallowed a dog;

What a hog, to swallow a dog;

She swallowed the dog to catch the cat,

I don't know how she swallowed a cow;

She's dead, of course!

Reading Plays

Masketeers masks are so great for reading plays in the classroom, and I was inspired to write a few plays because of buying the Big Book of Masks.

More soon!  Reading plays are so wonderful for building fluency in reading for young children.  These plays do NOT need to be memorized but just read a few times.  Reading plays are a fun way to end the school year once testing is finished, too.
